At present, it is hard to understand all the different types of qualification that learners hold - what level they are, how long they take to complete, what content they cover, and how they compare to other qualifications.
The new framework helps present qualifications in a way that is easy to understand and measure.

Credit and Level
Every unit and qualification in the framework has a credit value (one credit represents 10 hours, showing how much time it takes to complete) and a level between Entry level and level 8 (showing how difficult it is).
There are three sizes of qualifications in the QCF:
So in the new framework you can have an award at level 1 or an award at level 8. This is because the qualification type 'award, certificate, diploma' represents the size of a qualification, not how difficult it is.
Each qualification title contains the following:
Diplomas are available for the following areas
· Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQ)
a) Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Specialist Tyre Fitting (38 credits)
b) Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Fitting Principles (43 credits)
· Vocational Competence Qualification (VCQ)
a) Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Fitting Specialist Tyre Fitting Competence (49 credits)
b) Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Fitting Competence (50 credits)
c) Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Fitting Supervisory Competence
(45 credits)
Please click on the Diploma you are interested in to see the units available. You may decide that you wish
to take either a VRQ or a VCQ separately or together. Learners undertaking an Apprenticeship will be required to take both VRQ
and VCQ as well as the appropriate Key Skills, currently level 1 for a level 2 Diploma and level 2 for a level 3 Diploma.
